Tough economic times, addictions, and abuse are just a few of the reasons why an individual or family may end up on the streets without a place to call their own.
Homelessness is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, and charitable organizations like Joy Junction are dedicated to providing for the basic physical and spiritual needs of the homeless.

Who We Are
Joy Junction is a 501(c)(3) faith-based church ministry that offers emergency and short-term essentials such as food, clothing, counseling, transportation, shelter to homeless women, children, and families throughout Albuquerque. Our guests can also receive an array of other services for their spiritual and emotional needs. We believe in giving the homeless a Hand Up, not a handout, to help them get back on their feet.
We rely on the kind generosity of individuals and corporations throughout New Mexico to help us continue our outreach ministry. Each day we serve as many as 300 people including as many as 60 to 80 children; over 200,000 meals are provided to the homeless in Albuquerque every year. Women, children, and families in need are accepted regardless of their race, national origin, sexual orientation, sex, age, color, or religion.
We are committed to providing for the basic physical needs as well as the spiritual needs of the homeless. Our faith-based ministry strives to help adults return to society as active, functional members able to assist others in similar situations. Whether this process takes a few days or a year, our guests may stay with us as long as necessary including a stay in our long-term transitional housing.
In addition to our in-house outreach ministry members, Joy Junction also collaborates with other nonprofit charitable organizations to help the homeless as completely as possible. Some of these charitable organizations include:
- Albuquerque Rescue Mission
- Albuquerque Opportunity Center
- Other rescue organizations/homeless shelters in town.
Who We Accept
Anyone who is in need of our assistance is welcome to enter the shelter and stay for as long as necessary. We will not turn anyone away on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, race, color, age, national origin, or religion.
What We Accept
Because we are a nonprofit, donations-only charitable organization, we receive no federal, state, or local funding. Our entire program is funded by the generous donations of individuals, businesses, and churches in and around Albuquerque. To continue our homeless outreach mission, we gladly accept any and every donation an individual is willing to contribute.
