Horse Drawn Carriage Rides, Santa and his Helper for Joy Junction Guests Sunday
Children staying at Joy Junction, New Mexico's largest emergency homeless shelter, will enjoy a very special pre-Christmas Sunday.
That's when the "Riders of the Rio Grande" will descend on Joy Junction at about 10.15 a.m. on Dec. 21. (That will be after a parade starting at 10.00 a.m. from three blocks north of Joy Junction).
Plans are for about 20 horses and between six to eight decorated buggies. The Riders of the Rio Grande will lead the parade, in uniform, and will be flying several flags. They plan to play Christmas carols en route.
Joy Junction Founder and CEO Dr. Jeremy Reynalds said, "This is an awesome idea by the Riders of the Rio Grande, and I know the youngsters (as well as the not so young) staying here are going to have a wonderful time. We really appreciate these folk taking time out of their busy schedules to do this, and their ongoing commitment to Joy Junction for many years."
